Hypnosis for Fertility

Hypnotherapy for Fertility

There is growing evidence to indicate that hypnotherapy is one of the most powerful complementary therapies to assist conception. Hypnosis for Fertility / The Fertile Body Method is a specialist hypnosis programme tailored to the very individual circumstances and needs of each woman or couple to increase the likelihood of conception. It will complement IVF, IUI, ICSI and may increase the success rate of conception in unexplained inferrtility.

A study by Alice Domar, PhD in Boston in 1999, 42% of 132 previously infertile women in a program of counselling and hypnothery conceived. In a second study in 2000, 55% of the previously infetile women who met regularly in a mind/body programme conceived compared with 20% of the control group.

An Israeli study by Pofessor Levitas of 185 women undergoing IVF showed that the success rate doubled from 14% to 28% when having hypnosis during implantation. (Levitas E., Parmet A., Lunenfeld E., Burstein E., Friger M., Bentov Y., Potashnik G., Impact of hypnosis during embryo transfer on the outcome of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer: a case-control study. Fertility and sterility, 85, 5, 8, (2006).)

Current success rates for those who undergo high-tech procedures seem to be about 20% despite the progress that has been made in the treatment of "infertility".

Treatment

The recommended number of treatments varies depending on individual circumstances. The first session would involve an initial consultation and assessment. Future sessions would be tailored to the needs of the individual and average between 3 and 6 treatments over a period of weeks and months.
